Ok, that's nice, but my entire point was that triremes _cannot_ make long open
sea voyages, because you can only fit two (2) days worth of food on them.
Admittedly, you can eliminate the lower two rows of rowers and use that space
for cargo, but then you are going slower and are not as seaworthy. Also,
sailing ships can rotate between crews can make headway 24 hours a day, while
triremes cannot, because everyone on board is rowing at the same time, so you
have to beach somewhere, which is hard to do in the open sea. I'm still
trying to find more (any!) information on the later Imperial Rome/Medieval
Shipping, because that would be more in line with the rest of the world. I'm
tempted to just use the ship info I do have, but that's for Pirate era ships
(1635-1720), which is pushing it a bit.
