My first post on the list.
Hello I'm Scott Adams aka Longshot.
I've been gaming now for about 13 years since high school when I
started with Star Trek : Rpg back in 198x something :). Since then
I've learned many new systems and rules. I now about 22 different
systems and occasionally even get to play in them :). By far
my favorite FRP is Powers and Perils. I lucked up on finding it
back at a convention in '88 or so by sheer chance it was in a old
game section or something. I actually found the perilous lands
first then sought after the rules. I've enjoyed it ever since.
Being a programmer I did alot of character generators for the various
systems I run from Fringeworthy to Hawkmoon and such. I did a little
Random encounter program for P&P which is now on the web site. I
would appreciate any and all comments on it. :)
I have only unfournately played in one or two p&p games as it would
seem I'm the only one to run it in Jacksonville, Florida (USA).
Mostly I've run players and myself through a character in the game
as all GMs seem to do when they can't play.
My latest game is a free lance campagin on the Bulletin Board System
(BBS) I run. I have four players currently (really 2-6 at any one
time depending on their time). They have travelled from Thaliba
to Sivas, Marentia where the adventure has taken them to the mountains
south of Sivas in search of a lone lost Dwarf mining camp (which is
a red herring to another adventure). We have several warrior npcs,
3 Dog IIIs, a Pirate (pc), a Faerry magician, Me a Balance wizard,
A warrior of light weapons (pc), and a Knight of Marentia with a
total of 9 plus the 3 dogs in the party. We lost one npc recently
due to a Demon possession (random event) - had to leave him in
the fort south of Sivas (which is now ruins but the players don't
know this :)). I'm not telnetable but the game is run on a play
by echomail type basis over my network (AdventureNet). If anyone
is rich they could call and play :). No seriously I could always
setup something if is even internet email proxy playing. :)
About to do a small combat with an Alal. Nine vs an Alal. hmmm...
Also debating whether the Faerry can do a control spell on the demon
steed...I see no rules against it..
Anyways, I'm impressed with the new changes to the web site and
am catching up on the archives of the list. Just finished the
september ones last night.
BTW-any of those nifty maps for the Sivas region :).
The next post will be a collection of comments on the sept. issues
of the list by me.
