That's another aspect I  never condered.  Wood for the elf.  Hmmm...would
the pernmanet magic help to reinforce it from things like rot and decay?
Otherwise that could add spice to a piece of Elven armor :)

I figured that elf and Fey would tend to use wood over metal in their lesser
armors, due to the limited strength compared to dwarf and human.  I would
presume that given the enormous lifespans, they could indeed breed trees
with tougher wood then earthly ironwood.  Perhaps even giving the evolution
process a "hand" with sidh magics.

Shoot, given that I guess I COULD chuck the ael-metal concept altogether,
leaving advanced metal working to the dwarves and have the elves concentrate
on specialized wood.  Platemail that floats would be worth shit-loads if you
had a boat. :}  Even if it did not float, even the densest woods would be
better swimming gear then raw metal. :}
