[PnP] Equator

Cool Lynchpin. :}

So moving forward in our expose of P&P reality, What is the world/sun
relationship, since solar radiation is not the means by which
temperature is fully defined (via axial tilt)?

1) Is there or is there not any difference in daylight due to
season?

If the answer is no, then cosmology can be pretty simple:

1) Middle world has no axial tilt, revolves around sun, rotates
for night-day

2) Sun revolves around middle world at the equator point,
providing night-day

3) Middle world and sun are at fixed points in space and do not
move, middle world rotates for night-day

If yes, things can start to get funky, ranging from near-real to way
the f' out there

1) Middle world has axial tilt for seasonal daylight, revolves
around sun, rotates for night-day

2) Sun revolves around middle world for night-day, but the plane
of orbit wobbles up and down

3) Middle world and sun are at fixed points. Middle world rotates
for night day and wobbles on it's axis for seasonal daylight

4) As for #3, but the middle world "bungies" up and down through
the solar ecliptic to simulate the axial tilt.

5) As for #4, except it's the sun that's doing the bungie.

6) Screw all of that, daylight is 12 hours on average. Battles
between the forces of light and darkness in different regions alter the
length of day. Certain points of the year are more beneficial to one
side or the other, so in the "winter" months the forces of darkness hold
sway and daylight time is reduces. In summer months the forces of light
are more powerful and manage to increase their domain. In fall and
spring power is about even. The Sidhe and Elder continue to bang their
broom handles on the ceiling, telling the jerks upstairs to keep it down
and stop with the partly lights already.

Reply to second paragraph - yep. With luck on 20 uses of the altar each
requiring a month long ritual. Wanna bet all the crap there is would
work to stop you? Existence and use of the altar "may be" the reason the
lost city was put to sleep for centuries.

So the effects of climate (as per distance from the equator) is
not tide to the sun?

So, if you really wanted to be a jerk (and assuming the powers
above would let you), you could turn it 90 degrees, making Djanesborg an
equatorial forest (with the daylight of Norway) and they would be having
snowball fights in L'pnth (and Katai would be an arctic hell).

The equator runs through Ro'babza's hidden city. The angle of
declination is 3 to 5 degrees WNW by the same number of degrees ESE (or
thereabouts). Hidden there is an ancient earth altar. The forgotten key
to its power is cicatrized on the body of the ruler. If the altar is
found, and anyone makes the connection (and survives claiming it), the
altar can be used to alter the angle (1D6 degrees per success in the
direction chosen).

General scientific rules for weather and such are nice to know.
In a fantasy realm, much of it is where the ruling power wishes it to be
(assuming he is willing to pay the price when changes from the norm tick
off enemies or balance).
