Enjoying the shield info share. Agree with Floyd re: character creation - I love mine, too - that's why I'm writing stories about their adventures. 
About the shields, I feel a shield hit is a success for the shield wielder (our PC player) in using that skill & a partial success for the opponent. To miss the shield & the player is a failure for the opponent & a miss. To hit the player is a failure for the player & a success for the opponent. I only give points to whoever's attacking, giving them to whoever's turn in attack it is. But shields add points to the player as above, (& to the opponent carrying a shield), so points come on both sides. Shields give extra points, in other words, if successfully used, on either side.

Am I confusing the issue? lol
