If an crafter wanted to work on stuff, he would be considered "busy" and
only get 1 point of training per day (2 points are for the truely idle). If
he is very busy, he got nothing.
This is in addition to the free point of language gained, if they are
immersed in the language (i.e. WHile staying in Caldo, you would get 1 point
per day in Caldan).
People living in the wilderness (i.e. not hanging around the inns and bars
of a town, fort or city) gained 1 point per day in the terrain survival.
(NOTE: these two are personal house rules we have always played with)

|| What about when a character with some skill (say Armorer)
|| wants to both
|| improve the skill and make useful items for the party. There
|| is some room
|| for play in negotiating for use of an equipped smithy with
|| or without the
|| 'teacher' and what amount of time is to be spent working
|| (covering living
|| expenses) vs straight study. Plus who pays who and how much.
||
|| Note: My rule interpretation is that work by itself does
|| gain the worker
|| expertise at one half pt / day.

|| I figured out a basic cost of living scale, similar to that used in
|| RuneQuest. When dealing with "downtime" they got 1 or 2
|| points per day
|| (which assumed they did nothing but study or train). They
|| still had to
|| cover their living expenses. So a profitable raid could
|| allow them some
|| training time, but eventually they had to go work again.
