Well, actually, in the US at least, since 1978 a copyright is good for 100 years for a company and longer for an individual (I cannot recall at this moment). Copyrights are transferable, but proper taxes must be paid for the fair market value... and for those purposes, the IRS uses the net profit value of the product over it's lifetime. It takes a good lawyer.... <grin>
